Just have to shout out this girl! Since January we have been working on math since January. She has struggled for years with confidence in this area and now it is her favorite subject. She has gone from a 8.7 to 11.5 year old level on Elephant Learning. Her actual age is 11.3 so now she is above what she should know at her age. So proud of this girl! 3 times a week (sometimes more because she wants to) for 15 minutes per day. They recommend 10 but she wanted 15. They say you can learn a year of math in 3 months and we are proof that yes you can! I get no kickbacks or anything. I am not affiliated with Elephant Learning BUT I know it is working for Riley so wanted to share! We were so frustrated and needed something and this was the perfect fit for us. It may be for you too!

At first I thought there might be some learning issues but with some curriculum changes and this program I realize there's not. The program uses academic age and they started out at 7.6 and 9.8. Now after a month they are up to, 9.1 and 10.8. The kids like using it because its short, 10 minutes a day and because its more like playing games. They use it anywhere from 3 to 5 days a week. Your kid plays a series of games that make fundamental math concepts concrete. For example, there might be an array of animals, with some circled and they'll have to pick out 1/3. Then, in another game, they'll see a series of pie charts and have to pick 1/3. Or have to select 1 in 3 circles in a group. My children went from not-quite-getting math to finding it extremely intuitive and a little boring because they already understood what they were supposed to do. In addition to the math games that your kid does, you get a report showing where they are struggling that has ideas about games you can play to strengthen these areas. Things like getting 10 sided dice to practice multiplication. I could only get my kids to practice for about a year, but it got both of them over that critical fourth grade hump. I highly recommend the program.

Sorry, been hectic here. He enjoyed using the program, so some days he would do 40-45 mins, but then forget to use it the next week at all. That's why I averaged it to be about 30 mins typically in a week. Some days he'd do 20-25 mins, then nothing the rest of the week. He was very sporadic. I wish I could go back and check. We started in spring, he took off for the summer, started back up late Sept, and he was done using it by Christmas break. So it was about 3 months, summer, then about 3 months. All I can say is what our experience was, ya know? Our son usually grasps things quickly, but was behind in math concepts due to life events. And this really helped him!

He was sporadic with his time using the program. He preferred 30 min segments in one day and then be done for the week (not suggesting that is better, it's just what worked for him). He didn't like using it for only 10 mins. But it was rare for him to use it more than 1 day a week, and some weeks he didn't use it all. So I'd say the average was likely 30 mins or less a week. I'd love to go back and actually calculate the amount of time that he used it and the growth that happened, but we recently canceled our subscription. (Nothing wrong with the company, we were just trying to tighten up our outgoing expenses, and he hadn't really used it this last school year.)

Tiana Kylene: We are almost 2 weeks in. We use it daily as brain work since math is a struggle. Yes she still gets frustrated but she doesn't get mad. She will ask questions, she will keep trying. This alone is a win. She calls it fun! The set up is user friendly for both the learner and the parent or teacher. It is highly interactive and engaging. It's repetitive enough to help learn but skips around enough to keep the attention of the person working. My only regret is not starting it last year when I came across it.

My son caught up from two levels behind to at grade level in about a month and a half but he chose to do it every day.

Tammy Olsen McCarthy: As a teacher, I have found that the "games" and apps with all the graphics etc do not produce the results that this does. Sometimes kids just have to deal with the fact that simple is truly more effective. My daughter is almost 12. She got over it's non gaming style once she realized how much it was helping her.

Tammy Olsen McCarthy: I thought so at first too. It's all about perspective though. I have been desperate to find something that truly makes a difference. I am a teacher and math is my strength but my daughter has always fought allowing me to help her with anything. I also play the piano. She wanted to learn but again I paid for lessons because she just plain wouldn't let me show her anything. Anyway, I sat next to my daughter (who has been VERY behind in math) to watch and determine how worth it I think this is while it is. She is gaining the deep understanding of concepts are approached. This is the best tutor out there! And it is insanely cheap if you look at actual tutoring programs. The tutoring programs do not necessarily teach students the deeper concepts. Sometimes they just learn how to work certain problems. Yep grades and test scores can improve but only by so much because the concepts can't be applied as they have only learned how to solve problems presented in certain ways. I'd rather my daughter understands and can then apply. This is doing that for her. I HIGHLY recommend this! And I never usually put my 2 cents in.

Tammy Olsen McCarthy: I would absolutely take the advice from the Elephant Learning people. They know what they are doing and talking about. Since you've asked my opinion... It sounds like she is already ahead. Having taught 3K-6th grade over the last 21 years (3k-5K multi-age setting for the last 9) I recommend slowing down and not pushing. Moving forward is fine and beneficial when a child is interested. However, she may be building a barrier and developing anxiety toward math that will become harder and harder to overcome. Since she is already ahead, maybe try to find ways to enjoy math and work on breaking down that wal. I'm sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear. It's just my humble opinion.

I know this because she has been able to apply her understandings when solving problems presented a little differently than seen before. Asada Kimbo: my daughter was 6 when I got her started on it but the friend that recommended it had her son starting at 4 and they are understanding the concepts so well! I seriously recommend it! I use elephant learning in conjunction with math books I order on amazon as well and I find that the combination helps because what my daughter doesn't understand in the books she then picks up the understanding from elephant learning.

Sue Dowdy: I'm not sure; I haven't used ABC Mouse for several years with grandkids. If I remember correctly I think ABC Mouse focuses more on reading. Elephant learning is only math. My 6.5 year old grandson is now at 9.0 elephant years on elephant learning. I think he started mid or late February this year. He is a numbers guy though. 8 year old granddaughter is moving up a bit more slowly. Math is much more difficult for her. I'm not ready to quit on it yet. And it will help keep them sharp uring summer months. Hope this helps a little.

Sue Dowdy: I got it for my 3 grandchildren approximately 6 weeks ago. It costs $35 a month for a maximum of 3 kids. All 3 have improved their math skills. The 61/2 year old was at 6.1 when he started and he is now 8.5. The other 2 have also improved but not quite as much. Emma Pamley-Liddell: According to who has he improved? Umm Awwab: exactly my question. If you're trusting the for-profit company to tell you whether or not your child has made progress....yeah. Not knocking you Sue Dowdy just thinking an independent evaluation would be necessary. Basic fractions clicked for my son after only 4 days in....I'm loving this program

Stephanie Rutan: We love Elephant Learning! My 4 year old has the choice to work from her laptop or tablet and most of the time she enjoys doing "homework". She skipped preschool so EL is definitely giving her a nice run through to prepare her for Kindergarten. I've tried and tried to teach her things myself and she catches on for the most part, but doesn't retain it well. When you figure out what way your child learns the best things get easier. Mine is a visual learner and games really help her. I believe we've only been with EL for a couple months and she does it an hour a day every weekday... She's gone form 3 year old level math to 4.7 year old putting her right on track! We'll continue to use EL at least until she starts school in the fall.

My daughter loves it and has really made progress. She's 16 ADHD/ASD.

I homeschool her she is in 4th grade and We just started the program today.She started the assessment and it is 20/mins long and she did 17 mins of it. I was shocked because my daughter has never did her math that long she would always want to quit after 5 mins of Math. Rivard Crew: I use this with 5 kids as a tutor to work on weaker skills and build on their strong ones. It is like our "tutor" and it works well.

Stephanie Sanders: This program has done wonders for my 6&9 year olds. They don't prefer it over some of there other math games, but I believe it has helped them excel more than any other. A little boring (although the characters are fun and cute!) But they do a Fantastic job teaching the concepts Erica Maier Risciglione: ssame here! Kiddos grumble a little bc it's "boring" but I hvae yet to find a single school related program that they don't throw that term around with they like the characters and I LOVE the visuals and structure of the program! All the little details just reinforce important concepts etc... I set the timer for 15 min and we just knock it out, it's become part of the routine, they're fairly independent about it, and they are both DEFINITELY learning as they go- we're only a few weeks in but it's the most progress I've seen for them both all year! I was skeptical but I really love this program!

Stefanie Brunson Morgan: we started using it about 7 weeks ago and both of my kids love it and I can tell they are progressing. I don't believe they are trying to make a profit off of the current situation. I mean of course they are trying to make a profit (it's their business and there is nothing wrong with it) they were selling this product long before the corona pandemic occurred. If you don't want it, you don't have to buy it. I'll admit I wish it was cheaper but it's helping my kids so I'm going to keep it for awhile.

She's now in Kindergarten and doing mid- first grade work and complaining that it's too easy. So maybe the Elephant math DID pay off! Ok, I had my doubts. Come on here common sense trying to take over, but the facts speak for their self. I have two grandsons who are behind. One has visual problems that he has been in eye therapy for for the last two years. I can honestly say it does work. How? I don't know, but it does. The children see there progress on the line graph along with their beginning score and their current score. They both want to share their levels with me and ask to get on the program. I'm not saying it is a math program that replaces all other programs, but will say it works and helps lay a good foundation. Apply for the scholarship and save. I have no affiliation with this program or anyone who works there.

He wants to do it longer than the slotted time. It does limit them to 20 minutes a day. Took me/us a day or so to get used to using the program. More detailed directions for me would have been helpful, but it is worth it to us! I highly recommend giving it a try...for your sake, and the child's life...everyone uses math daily. I wish they had one for reading. Heck I wish they had an entire school program!

Shawn Lisa Weston: Wow! My son has been behind in math for a couple years no matter how much we help. With schools now closed we are really having trouble. I signed him up for Elephant Learning to see what it could do. He enjoys it so there is no screaming and crying and trying to avoid the work. The assessment placed him at 1.5 years behind. After a few days of working, and receiving daily progress emails, I received an email saying he was struggling still and it had suggestions. I reset his age, one of the suggestions, to show him at his skill level age. He is doing better and I do believe it is working. The communication and tips from this program are very interactive and really help you help your child! I can't wait to see how it progresses!

It's not about a “rush” or hurry. It's about how efficient it is. As someone whose kids had holes in understanding from before, and then definitely suffered from a lack of support after the pandemic hit (absolutely taking responsibility for that, by the way), we needed something to find the gaps and help understanding to get caught up. So far, this program just makes sense to my 13yo son, who has been struggling. Literally four days/60 minutes in, after starting at a 1st grade level, and he said “today we got to, multiplication and it actually makes sense!” In 3rd grade he decided not to bother learning that skill, which is obviously an important foundation. But EL is helping start at ground level and something about the process gets through. I only hope it keeps working...

Sandy Fulton: I have only seen frustration once with my seven year old and that was when he wasn't listening carefully. Once he started really listening he was fine. If she has gotten in the habit of not listening because she doesn't think she can do math, she may get frustrated. Maybe monitor her first few sessions so she can get in the habit of listening when hearing math stuff.
